The Treatment
Microdermabrasion is performed by passing a hand held device that uses a highly controlled flow of fine, medical grade crystals over the skin. These crystals, delivered at high velocity onto the skin surface are immediately vacuumed away, taking the top-most layer of dead skin cells with it. This skin exfoliating process improves the tone and texture of the skin and also reveals the new, living skin cells that are soft and smooth. At the same time the underlying epidermis is also stimulated by the treatment and this promotes new collagen, thickening the dermis and improving the resistance to the effects of ageing.
What happens when I have my treatment?
Prior to Microdermabrasion treatment
Prior to your treatment you will have a consultation where all your questions are answered and you are assessed for your suitability to proceed. The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes, depending upon the skin condition and the area to be treated.
The results are instant, and unlike chemical peels, medical microdermabrasion usually does not require a preparation prior to treatment.
Following Microdermabrasion treatment
Immediately post treatment your skin will be very receptive to nutrients, so as part of your treatment our fully qualified Therapists will apply appropriate skin care products. Your Therapist will discuss the best care regime for you to follow at home, enhancing the results of your procedure.
Many clients will notice an improvement in the texture of their skin immediately after the first treatment. The long term benefits of multiple procedures are accumulative and can be remarkable. There is very little if any recovery time (most clients can return to work straight after treatment). However, a small number of clients can experience redness for up to 24 hours and should avoid heat treatments, direct sun exposure, sauna and vigorous exercise for the first post treatment day. It is recommended that a SPF cream be used to help protect the skin from sun damage during the summer months.
This treatment is not suitable for patients who have visible broken blood vessels.
How long will Microdermabrasion treatments last?
We recommend a course of 6-8 treatments spaced approximately 7-10 days apart, results will be seen immediately with an improvement of your skin texture. The average time for a complete cell regeneration and upward migration (cell turnover) is 4-5 weeks. At the end of that time, the client should see significant results.
Due to the incredible results, clients often want to continue with the improvement so depending upon skin condition a maintenance course will be discussed with you by your Therapist, along with other treatments that may enhance this versatile procedure.
The microdermabrasion treatments can be enhanced with a mask facial or maybe an Indian Head Massage.
Treatment price for 30min session £40.00
Enhancement and complimenting treatments are extra, please advise at time of booking
