Electrolysis has the longest known track record together with the most effective results for hair removal.

Electrolysis at Beau Visage

It was developed in 1875 to remove ingrown eyelashes. It was found that once the follicle had been treated with electrolysis the hair was permanently destroyed.

Hair removal by Electrolysis works by passing a small amount of energy into the hair follicle through a very fine probe.  More than one treatment may be necessary due to the fact that hair follicles have a specific hair growth cycle.

There are three proven methods of Electrolysis. Galvanic Electrolysis - the original method, achieves excellent results due to the chemical reaction produced within the hair follicle. However it is very slow and has been replaced by shortwave diathermy - this produces heat which is faster but is not quite as thorough as galvanic. To overcome this slight drawback the third method known as Blend was developed in 1949 - This is the method recommended and used by Beau Visage.

The parts of body where electrolysis is more commonly used for hair removal are face, including eyebrows, cheeks, upper and lower lips, chin, area between the eyebrows, neck, breasts, stomach, underarms, arms, forearms, thighs, bikini line, legs and feet in women. Men usually prefer to get hair removed by electrolysis from shaggy eyebrows, between the eyebrows, outer ear and nose, nape of neck, shoulders, chest, back, forearms, underarms, and legs.
